A look at the Scorpio Power Drive

A look at the Scorpio Power Drive

To say Scorpios love wielding power is an understatement. They partake of it instinctively as a delicate craft that, when done properly, can release endorphins escalating any exchange to euphoria.

Their goal is not necessarily to kill an enemy, but to unearth a friend, a comrade whose power they can respect and adore.

Punish and wound a lover? So, it would seem. But, it’s more like trying them over fire to reveal a level of durability and/or purity the lover didn’t know he or she had.

To say power playing Scorpio-style is ostensibly about seeking to control or manipulate someone is easy, too easy and misses the mark.

I know Scorpios like Charles Manson or Ike Turner misused their power drives and may have lent credence to that view. But Manson had Saturn square his Scorpio Sun which greatly restricted his Scorpio power, driving him to overcompensate with the weakness that is manipulation. And Turner, as wonderful as his powers were in music, perhaps thanks to his Sun conjunct Venus, suffered a Pluto opposed by Saturn — another power-draining combo. It typically creates insecure emotions that can simmer to bomb-like explosions.

So Scorpios who give in to the worst of such natal aspects should not be mascots for what the Scorpio hunger for power really looks like.

Think about it, could a sign known to value independence and strength, really seek to defy those principles by turning someone into a puppet? They would never relish that. They despise weakness.

Think of Scorpios as the washing machines of humanity. Throw them into the mix and they agitate — sometimes it’s the forceful clashing of Mars or the soft barely noticeable, cunning, and seductively charming spin cycle of Pluto. At any rate, once the knocking about, wringing, and near drowning is over, you emerge somehow cleaner, fresher, like new.

Power-clashing fits seamlessly into their Plutonic life mission to transform and give rebirth — not at the community level — but on a very uncomfortably close, one-on-one, in-your-face level.

At their best, Scorpios revere power because it is the ultimate creative force. Without it, the world would be inert. Nothing starts, moves, changes form, comes into being without the trigger of power.

You thought your Scorpio’s agitation was bad and destructive? You’ve been had! What is seemingly destructive is really  a salute to creativity since Death to one thing yields something new.

And that abiding principle, so in sync with their nature, is what I believe they act on — whether subconsciously or consciously. That’s the deep the reason for the power drive. That’s what turns them on: the hope to see what’s left after the nuclear explosion. They pray it’s never the roaches.
