Why Scorpios Love Arguments & Confrontation in Relationships

Private though we are, Scorpios love invasion, confrontation and conflict — especially when they are the ones igniting it.
Australian Astrologer Milton Black once said that if things are going easy and there’s no conflict, Scorpios will either consciously or subconsciously create it to feel COMFORTABLE.

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, the planet of power, as well as by Mars, which is a warrior planet that bestows pugilist energy. Scorpios, therefore, are very Mars -aware, particularly if Mars is in a first house or otherwise accented strongly in the natal chart. This co-ruling planet gives Scorpios serious aggression.

They can either project it outwards or keep it inward and self-destruct. Some Scorpios are known for self-destruction, but outer release of the aggression is the favored way to go.

Scorpios are compelled on an almost spiritual level toward power clashing, sexy tension, and fun flirty wars. They will enjoy provoking and riling people. This will be considered fun even if it seems wicked.

If someone has the passion and strength to tangle with a Scorpio, that signals to a Scorpio the person wants to invest in the bond and that they are a suitable or equal partner. If they back off after a clash, then Scorpios will get nervous and fear the bond is unstable. They will also consider the person weak.

Scorpios will not confront anyone unless they really care about that person or find that person interesting. Otherwise, a Scorpio will feel the conflict is a waste of passion and time.

Confrontation can help cement a significant moment and encourage the bonding process. It can also reveal the true nature of a person to Scorpio. Scorpios like to probe the psyches of those they interact with. In a confrontation, the other person is apt to lose their cool facade and be forced to react from a very primal place. Then Scorpios will see who they really are and think “Ahh. Now, I know you.”

For me, this lust for power clashing is innate, intense and internal…. so strong that I look for a similar force to clash with just so I can expend it and not combust or implode.

There are few people, however, who understand Scorpio’s warrior-like nature (perhaps Aries does as they are also Mars-ruled). It’s really a fiery expression of love. Such expressions might also lead to S&M fascinations by Scorpio.
